In total, there are over five hundred still life paintings she completed between 2003 and 2016, many of which feature food and drink. Because food and drink is comfort, joy, escape, delight, relaxation, community, abundance.....the list goes on. They are a celebration of life, and while, during this period of her painting career, she did not create specifically narrative works, the unspoken narrative of food and drink is everything listed above and more. The viewer can easily take the subject and make their own nostalgic connection to it. Being able to elicit and share that connection was an appealing reason to paint them.
